Science & Innovation Update – August 2022

Paul McGlone chats to Prof. Mike Lenné about what's happening in the Innovation team and the impact of safety regulations in Europe and the US.

In this Science and Innovation Update, Paul chats to Prof. Mike Lenné about what the Innovation team is working on. They discuss the current wave of Automotive RFQs as well as safety regulation in Europe and the US.

In Europe, driver drowsiness and attention warning technology is required in all new vehicles from 2024. We’re supporting Aftermarket customers and automotive OEMs to meet this requirement. Euro NCAP has also set standards and guidelines for effective distraction and drowsiness monitoring for passenger cars from 2023.

In the United States, we’re engaging with regulators, safety bodies and politicians to discuss approaches to mitigate drunk and distracted driving.
