  • 2023-24 Guardian Insights Report shines a spotlight on global driver fatigue and distraction trends

The 2023-24 Guardian Insights Report unpacks deidentified data from over 60,000 vehicles, which collectively travelled more than 3.6 billion kilometres in the 12-month period to 30 September 2024.

This follows on from our inaugural Guardian Insights Report where we leveraged Guardian’s unparalleled, naturalistic driving data for the first time, focusing on fleets in Australia and New Zealand. This year, we’ve expanded the scope to encompass all regions where Guardian operates, offering a richer, global perspective. However, variations in laws, regulations, and driving conditions across regions call for caution when drawing comparisons.

Designed to provide a deeper understanding of driver and fleet behaviour so that operators can use the insights to improve processes and ultimately keep their drivers safe, the report explores trends and answers questions such as:

•    Which regions have the highest rates of fatigue and distraction?
•    Are there notable trends around when these events occur?
•    And importantly, how can companies leverage this data to protect their drivers?

Data in the 2023-24 Guardian Insights Report is normalised, allowing for contextual analysis to ensure insights are accurate and meaningful across varying levels of road activity.

The journey to safer roads is continuous and requires collaboration between policymakers, companies, and drivers. The insights from this report emphasise the need for region-specific, data-driven safety strategies to support a safer fleet and road driving environment for everyone.
